In order to have the equivalent amount in capsules, we have to take like 4-6 pills *ick*. Collagen drinks also tastes fishy, no matter what they do to cloak the taste. The most tolerable I have tried so far is the one from HyC that has a faint condensed milk taste + fish.

Sige na nga! Due to insistent popular demand, I’m here to review Kokando Vita White Plus L-Cysteine Whitening Tablets. I took these tablets for more than 2 months. I’m not taking it now kasi I’m trying another product (reveal soon). I bought this from Cheskas Store for 950php for a bottle 0f 240 tablets. I randomly take 3-6 tablets a day like M&Ms kasi it has a sugary coating and it’s easy to swallow. I want to take a break from glutathione and relax my body for a while. Before anything else, let’s discuss what is L-Cysteine first and the ingredients of Kokando Vita White Plus.

What is L-Cysteine?

L-cysteine is naturally produced in our bodies. It can be synthesised in the human liver and is therefore not an essential amino acid. L-cysteine supports the synthesis of the highly antioxidative Glutathione and can also be stored in this chemical form. It therefore plays an important part in detoxification and the resulting protection of several tissues and organs. Glutathione also inhibits inflammation and leads to an overall strengthening of the immune system.

It’s basically a glutathione pre-cursor. We all know glutathione is an anti-oxidant but with a skin lightening side effect. Therefore L-Cyseine also aids in skin lightening and overall well-being of our hair, skin, nails and body. It also boosts our immune system and increases skin tolerance against allergies.

• Price – If you can afford spending 2,500 every month for your vanity I salute you! If I was filthy rich I’d buy this every month. I’m currently taking an alternative which is the Orihiro Placenta Jelly I’ll be reviewing soon. It’s a lot cheaper (950php/30 jellies good for 1 month too)
• Short Term Instant Effects – This, together with other liquid supplements works as soon as you take it. Well, a day after that is. Your skin looks tighter, and yes they hit it right with “shiny”. Your skin glows with radiance, that it looks like a shiny pokemon. Not oily. Shiny. Like really taut (banat)
• Long Term Effects – While taking this product, I notice my eyebags lifted and less visible. The lines on my forehead also disappeared. I took this for 1 month.

Now I am out. My bottle is empty. If I buy another bottle my pocket will be empty but will it be all worth it? I suggest that you go try a bottle and see for yourself. We can “maintain” with a more affordable supplement. I recommend this to ladies who are single, ready to mingle and look extra special.

They also have a milky smell vs having a fishy smell (other brands)

Review  Mas mukha akong maaliwalas. I don’t know the exact english word for maaliwalas (comment here if you do) but even without makeup my skin looks bouncy, soft, and healthy. I guess it’s the opposite of haggard. Bright, happy and glowing despite lack of sleep sometimes. I take 2 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets at night. You can see visible results as early as 2 weeks. In terms of wrinkle prevention, you judge for yourselves. I’ve been taking collagen for more than 2 years now. I’m 30 years old. So, I’ve been using this product for 2 months now taking 3 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets at night. It doesn’t make my skin oily, nor does it instantly fade away wrinkles. What I did notice was that when used in conjunction with my morning skincare routine, I wake up with radiant, glowing, and bouncy skin. Just like how my son’s butt used to be LOL. What’s nice about this collagen supplement is that it is not just collagen. It also has delightful skin nourising ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide, and Royal Jelly. The tablets are easy to swallow because of their small size and they have a faint milky taste. Most collagen supplements have a fishy smell that can be a real turn-off.

Finally, this is one of the collagen supplements I might repurchase because it works and it tastes pretty decent. Sometimes no matter how good your collagen is, if it tastes like fish you rarely take it regularly right?

What’s the best glutathione supplement po that you can recommend?. Whew. I receive HUNDREDS of these questions over and over on my FB page, IG, and even on my personal account. I guess it took a while before I realized hey, you need to be heard! You need to be answered!

Before we start with recommendations, let’s start and determine your skin type.

Best Glutathione Supplement According to Your Skin Type and Needs

To make this article even easier to read and access. I enumerated the different skin types and requirements I could think of. With numerous glutathione supplements in the Philippines it’s so hard to recommend a specific brand. Instead of a specific brand, it will be more helpful for you guys that I indicate which ingredient to look for and which ingredient to avoid. Enjoy!

Skin Type/ Requirement:  Dry Skin

Look For: Hyaluronic Acid, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Hydroxytyrosol

Avoid: N/A

Why? Your skin needs extra moisture inside and out. Besides the basic glutathione, you can benefit from moisturizing ingredients like the ones listed above. They are seen in topical skincare but did you know there are supplements that include them as well?

Skin Type/ Requirement:  Oily Skin

Look For: Vitamin C

Avoid: Hydroxytyrosol

Why? Vitamin C works great in balancing oil internally. Hydroxytyrosol is a derivative from olive oil that can over stimulate our oil production.

Skin Type/ Requirement:  Sensitive/Acne Prone Skin

Look For: Lactobacillus/Lactobacilli, Vitamin B complex

Avoid: Alpha Lipoic Acid

Why?  I say this over and over and over again. If you have sensitive skin avoid ALA at all costs. I heard a lot of horror stories from my friends and personal experience. It’s a double edged sword. Some people benefit from it, some don’t. It’s a high irritant. Lactobacillus is becoming popular as an anti-acne supplement and some glutathione brands are infusing them with it. (Also see: Yakult for Acne). According to research, one cause of acne is vitamin B deficiency.

Skin Type/ Requirement:  Aging Skin

Look For:  Placenta, Hyaluronic Acid, Alpha Lipoic Acid (optional), Collagen

Avoid: Alpha Lipoic Acid IF you are also acne prone

Why? The ingredients mentioned above are excellent in stimulating our collagen production. Collagen is the building block of our skin’s elasticity and as time goes by the production becomes slower. Look for these in  your supplement to aid in preventing early signs of skin aging. I notice most Japanese skincare supplements have these ingredients.

The Macho Mom Says… I promised myself I will write this review once I finish the entire bottle. It’s all empty. Shiseido Pure White does not give the fairness and significant skin shade change that glutathione provides. But it gave my skin a visible lift. My face looks more plump and lifted, I even got a compliment that I looked like a college student yesterday. That was from my aunt’s lady collague. It wasn’t meant to be a compliment. She just asked me “Buti wala kang class ngayon” HAHAHAH so feel na feel ko diba.

Taking 8 tablets a day is tedious. I take 4 in the morning and 4 before I go to bed. Together with the other vitamins I’m taking. Ito ha, I’m not doing anything to my busts pero it also looked more perky and lifted? It could probably because of my benchpress workouts, pero the stretchmarks seem to have faded too. I probably won’t take this again as I’d love to scout for more supplements to try, but overall. This is a good buy because it works.

Mix with 200ml liquid. You can mix it with water, juices, coffee, any liquid. I just used water on this one to find out how it tastes like by itself.

Texture – The collagen powder content is one of the finest I’ve seen. Literally fine. Making it easy to mix.

Scent – SUPER FISHY

Taste – SUPER FISHY. I highly doubt mixing it with other drinks can cloak the fishy flavour of this collagen drink. Don’t tell me I didn’t try. I tried covering my nose, not breathing, mixing it with juice, but it still tasted like all the ocean’s fish extracted in a bottle.

Does it work? Call me lame but it tasted so awful I wasn’t able to take it for as long as 2 months to notice any remarkable difference on my skin. I only drank this for 5 days. It didn’t make me breakout and there was a soft glow on my skin when I wake up in the morning. The soft glow is similar to oil, but the good kind.

Will I buy again? Nope. I cannot handle the taste. I hope they study on how to improve the flavor? Because what’s the use of 20,000mg when it’s impossible to drink. Kudos to the ladies and gentlemen who can endure drinking this.

• CONS I wish it came in a pack with 1 month supply instead of 15 day supply. Compared to collagen that has higher MG (10,000 per serving), this takes time before you see the effects. Patience is needed.
